Job summary

Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center in Maryland seeks a Surgical Assistant I to support the surgeon as first or second assistant in the Operating Room. This fulltime day shift role also serves as a resource, leader and coordinator to promote high-quality, cost-effective care.

The position requires NSAA/ABSA certification (or eligible), CPR, and at least three years of surgical experience, with availability for call and weekend coverage. Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Board certified (or eligible) by NSAA/ABSA or NBSTSA and maintain CME.
• Minimum of three (3) years experience as a Surgical Assistant in all surgical specialties.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon as first or second assistant in the Operating Room.
• Act as a resource, leader and coordinator to promote high-quality, cost-effective health care services.
• Interact with internal colleagues and external contacts to exchange work-related information.
• Maintain courtesy and tact when dealing with others.

Education

NSAA/ABSA/ NBSTSA Surgical Assistant Certification (Board certified or eligible)

CPR certification

Minimum 3 years Surgical Assistant experience
