Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a Surgical Assistant Program is required.
• CSFA certification required or NBSTSA/NSAA/NCCSA recognized.

Responsibilities

• Performs surgical hand scrub, gowning, and gloving according to policy and assists on cases.
• Routinely functions as first or second assist; maintains sterile technique and counts.
• Assists with patient positioning and draping; manages instruments and supplies.
• Communicates with the circulating nurse about missing or malfunctioning instruments.
• Takes call as required by the department; participates in room turnover and quality activities.
