Job summary

AdventHealth in Tarpon Springs, FL is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to conduct comprehensive patient assessments, perform pre-operative evaluations, and serve as a first assist in surgery. The role includes rounding hospitalized surgical patients, managing post-operative care, and coordinating tests with the healthcare team.

The ideal candidate holds national NP certification, a Florida APRN license, and BLS/ACLS certification, with strong clinical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• National certification as a Nurse Practitioner (FNP, AGACNP, or AGNP).
• Current Florida APRN License.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification.
• DEA registration or ability to obtain.
• Excellent clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, histories, physical examinations, and develop treatment plans.
• Perform pre-operative evaluations and prepare patients for surgical procedures.
• First assist in surgery as credentialed and permitted by hospital policies.
• Round on hospitalized surgical patients and manage post-operative care plans.
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and imaging results.
• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic surgical conditions within scope of practice.
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, surgical expectations, and recovery.
• Document patient encounters accurately and timely within the electronic medical record.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain adherence to evidence-based practice standards.
• Facilitate timely communication among patients, families, and healthcare team members.
