Job summary

CHRISTUS Health in Sulphur Springs, TX is seeking a surgery attendant under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and RN to assist with patient flow and safe care in the unit.

Responsibilities include transporting patients and equipment, preparing beds and equipment, assisting with surgical positioning under RN direction, restocking supplies, and ensuring equipment functions properly. 1 year hospital experience preferred; BLS required. Multiple shifts; full time.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year of experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients and equipment using appropriate standard precautions.
• Cleans and makes ready beds, stretchers and wheelchairs for patient transfer.
• Presents self to other staff, patients, families and visitors in a warm, receptive manner. Provides direction and information to patients and family members. Identifies and obtains language translation as needed.
• Assists with surgical patient positioning, transfer, cast application and removal under the direction of the RN.
• Retrieves and delivers items to other departments. Responds promptly to assignments and requests.
• Assists nursing staff in maintaining high standards of nursing practice by facilitating a prompt response to patient needs.
• Restocks supplies, cleans/defrosts refrigerators, cleans equipment and maintains orderly environment.
• Assures patient transfer and transport equipment is functioning properly.
• Functions as a surgical team member.
• Demonstrates competence to perform assigned responsibilities is a manner that meets the population-specific and developmental needs of the members served by the department.
• Appropriately adapts assigned assessment, treatment, and/or service methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific and other developmental needs of each member served.
