Job summary

CHRISTUS Health in Santa Fe, NM seeks an ancillary member of the surgical team to provide direct and indirect patient care and support. You will help order and restock supplies and handle instruments and equipment for upcoming cases.

The role requires a high school diploma, potential prior acute care experience, and BLS certification within six months. Work schedule is five days with eight-hour shifts in a full-time capacity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One-year experience in an acute care hospital setting or health care environment preferred.
• BLS certification is required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients and assists with holding area functions.
• Assists nursing staff with room turnover and setup as delegated by licensed staff.
• Obtains necessary equipment, positioning aides, furniture, and supplies for next case.
• Follows proper universal infection control techniques.
• Performs cleaning routines for lights, autoclaves, room furniture, staff areas, and supplies.
• Participates in quality management programs as assigned.
• Adjust work priorities to accommodate cancellations and urgent/emergent cases.
• Returns supplies and equipment to appropriate storage spaces.
• Performs between-case cleanups.
• Maintains and restocks carts, sterile areas, linen, and areas assigned.
• Communicates courteously with Central Supply, Sterile Processing, and ancillary departments to obtain necessary supplies in a timely manner.
• Takes call as assigned.
• Asks questions and seeks new experiences to better understand department.

Responsibilities:

• Transports patients, assists with holding area functions.


• Assists nursing staff with room turnover and setup as delegated by licensed and certified staff.


• Obtains necessary equipment, positioning aides, furniture, and supplies for next case.


• Follows proper universal infection control techniques.


• Performs morning, daily, and weekly routines for cleaning of lights, autoclaves, room furniture, staff areas, outdating of supplies and equipment.


• Participates in quality management programs as assigned.


• Adjust work priorities to accommodate cancellations and urgent/emergent cases.


• Returns supplies and equipment to appropriate storage spaces.


• Performs between cases cleanups.


• Maintains and restocks solution carts, plaster cart, sub sterile areas, linen, special orders, and areas assigned.


• Communicates courteously with Central Supply, Sterile Processing, and ancillary departments to obtain necessary supplies in a timely manner.


• Takes call as assigned.


• Asks questions and seeks new experiences to better understand department.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

• One-year experience in an acute care hospital setting or health care environment preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

BLS certification is required within six months of hire.

In accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy, all Associates are required to obtain the required certifications for their respective positions within the designated time frame.
