Job summary

Raleigh General Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Surgical Aide to support safe, efficient surgical services by assisting with basic patient care, transportation, positioning, room preparation, turnover, cleaning, and stocking under RN/LPN supervision.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Healthcare or hospital support experience preferred, particularly as Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or surgical services support staff.
  • Strong commitment to patient safety, comfort, dignity, and quality care.
  • Strong attention to cleanliness and infection prevention; maintain a safe, sanitary surgical environment.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication with nurses, staff, patients and other departments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, safe patient care under the direct supervision of an RN or LPN, supporting patient comfort, dignity, and overall well-being.
  • Support surgical room readiness and turnover by cleaning, sanitizing, restocking, and preparing rooms between procedures.
  • Assist with safe patient transportation and positioning, following established clinical procedures and safety protocols.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment in assigned surgical and patient-care areas while following infection prevention and hospital standards.
  • Support efficient patient flow and surgical operations by promptly completing assigned tasks and responding to changing departmental needs.
  • Maintain adequate supplies and equipment by keeping shelves stocked and delivering necessary materials to surgical and patient-care areas.
  • Accurately transport specimens, medical records, imaging, and other essential items between departments while maintaining patient privacy and safety.
  • Collaborate with nurses, surgical staff, and other healthcare team members, using sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.

How You'll Contribute

What We're Looking For
