Job summary

The Surgical Admission Unit (SAU) RN at FirstHealth of the Carolinas supports patients through preoperative assessments, education, and coordination with surgical and anesthesia teams in Pinehurst, NC. Qualifications

• Graduate of an accrediated nursing program with current RN licensure in NC or compact state.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Preoperative, perioperative or acute care nursing experience preferred.
• Strong assessment, IV, communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize care in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Complete preoperative assessments and verify medications, allergies, and required documentation.
• Confirm completion of consents, testing, and surigcal preparation; report concerns to the appropriate provider.
• Initiate IV access and adminster medication and treatments as ordered.
• Educate pateints and families on the surgical process and what to expect.
• Communicate patient needs and provide a thorough handoff to the receving team.
• Document care accurately and follow organizational policies and nursing standards.
