Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Pittsburgh North is seeking an exceptional Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team. The role involves outpatient and anesthesia duties, with a sign-on bonus up to $5,000 based on licensure and experience.

A two-plus year veterinary hospital background is preferred, with on-call rotations after training. Pay ranges from $21.10 to $40.60 per hour, with shift differentials for nights and weekends and a CareerTrax leveling system for advancement.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a veterinary hospital.
• Ability to speak with clients and obtain patient history.

Responsibilities

• Admit patients to the hospital for surgical procedures and place IV catheters.
• Facilitate new consults and recheck exams.
• Speak to clients to obtain patient history.
• Restrain animals for exams and diagnostics.
• Perform blood draws, radiographs, vitals.
• Assist with bandage changes.
• Monitor post-operative vitals and manage anesthesia equipment.
• Discharge post-op with owners, explain meds and activity restrictions.
• Answer client calls and document updates in medical records.
• On-call responsibilities after training.

Education

2+ years veterinary hospital experience

LVT CVT RVT LVMT VTS licensure desired
