Qualifications & Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

• Prepare patients for surgery (IV catheterization, anesthesia induction, intubation, prep).
• Monitor anesthesia (SpO2, CO2, BP, ECG) and manage recovery.
• Perform venipuncture, administer medications, and provide advanced nursing care.
• Safely restrain animals and ensure low-stress handling.
• Set up and maintain surgical instruments and packs.
• Perform X-rays and basic lab tests.
• Support a variety of surgeries (soft tissue, orthopedic, emergency).
• Maintain and troubleshoot surgical and anesthesia equipment.
• Work closely with surgeons and specialists to deliver seamless care.
• Mentor veterinary assistants and support team development.
• Update owners on procedures, recovery, and discharge plans.
• Educate clients on at-home care and medication instructions.
• Present treatment plans and financial options clearly and compassionately.

What You Bring to the Team

• Veterinary technician/nursing experience required (surgical/anesthesia experience preferred).
• Licensure (RVT/LVT/CVT) preferred but not mandatory.
• Advanced proficiency with anesthesia monitoring, patient prep, IV catheterization, and critical care.
• Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task in a surgical environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• A calm, confident demeanor under pressure.
• Ability to lift 40+ lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
• Flexibility to work some weekends, overtime, and participate in on-call rotations.
