Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Kirkland, WA is seeking a Surgery Veterinary Technician specialized in anesthesia to join our team. The role offers a competitive hourly pay range and a schedule of Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 10am to 8pm.

Ideal candidates have at least two years of veterinary hospital experience, with strong nursing skills, IV catheter placement, and effective collaboration within a dynamic Surgical Team environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of experience in a veterinary hospital.
• Experience with anesthesia is required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to participate in rotating on-call after training.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards.
• Place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Perform physical exams and monitor heart rate, respiration, mucous membranes, and other vitals.
• Alert the doctor when abnormalities are observed.
• Set up intravenous fluids for patients.
• Administer subcutaneous fluids as needed.
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot issues.
• Aseptically disconnect/connect patient from IV fluids.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy and signs of overload.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician who is skilled in anesthesia to join our Surgery Team in Kirkland, WA!

Pay: $27 - $42 / hour

This is a starting point, pay is dependent on experience and leveling through a competency system.

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10am-8pm

A BluePearl Surgery Technician is responsible for some post-operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal. Prefer to have a minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital. A rotating on call schedule is required once training has been completed.

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Utilize their ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understands normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Able to set up intravenous fluids.
• Administers subcutaneous fluids.
• Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• Able to disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
