Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Fort Myers, FL is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team. The pay ranges from $21.00 to $42.00 per hour and is a starting point based on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will provide nursing care, place peripheral IV catheters, perform physical exams and monitor vital signs. A rotating on-call schedule is required after training and two or more years of experience is

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of veterinary hospital experience.
• Proficiency in nursing care and basic procedures.
• Ability to work independently within a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients per hospital standards.
• Place peripheral IV catheters.
• Perform physical exams and monitor vitals.
• Monitor patient response to fluids and alert doctor as needed.
• Assist with setup and administration of IV fluids and pumps.
• Disassemble and reassemble IV lines aseptically.
• Assist during patient recovery and communication with clients.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team.

Pay: $21.00 - $42.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

A BluePearl Surgery Technician is responsible for some post-operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal. Prefer to have a minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital. A rotating on call schedule is required once training has been completed.

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Utilize their ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understands normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Able to set up intravenous fluids.
• Administers subcutaneous fluids.
• Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• Able to disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
