Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Augusta, GA is seeking a detail-oriented Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team. The role offers a sign-on bonus up to $7,500 and a competitive pay range with shift differentials for evenings and weekends.

Schedule is 4x10 hour weekday shifts with occasional on-call. You will assist in anesthesia, monitor procedures, place IVs, manage fluids, and contribute to patient care from pre-op to recovery.

Qualifications

• Must be a veterinary technician with hands-on experience in surgical settings.
• Proficient in anesthesia and analgesia protocols.
• Strong mathematical and record-keeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist during procedures with anesthesia and analgesia plans.
• Monitor anesthesia and intervene during complications.
• Place IV catheters and manage CRIs and IV fluids.
• Perform routine physical exams and monitor vital parameters.
• Maintain medical records, invoicing, and discharge communications.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Augusta, GA is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our skilled Surgery Team!

_ *This position offers up to a $7,500 sign-on bonus based on experience* _

Schedule: 4x10 hour week day shifts; occasional on-call expectations

Pay: $21.00 - $42.00 / hour

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

We offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$3.00/hr. Shift Differential

• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$3.00/hr. Shift Differential

• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$4.50/hr. Shift Differential

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician,you will:

• Assistin patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.

• Monitor anesthesia, trouble shoot anesthetic complications, andmake appropriate interventions.

• Intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance.

• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rateand effort.

• Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.

• Set up intravenous fluidsand CRI’s.

• Continuous expansion of knowledge and skillset: advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals,difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.

• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.

• Comfortable with medical math.

• Ability to take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery)

• Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.

• Disconnect and connect patientsfrom intravenous fluids aseptically.
