Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Augusta, GA is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team. This position offers up to a $5,000 sign-on bonus based on experience and a 4x10 schedule with on-call rotations.

Pay: $19.50 - $38.50 per hour, dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. VT credentialed candidates may receive additional compensation.

Qualifications

• Licensed veterinary technician required or eligible.
• Surgical nursing experience preferred.
• Ability to perform venipuncture and monitor anesthesia-related parameters.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable surgical patients according to hospital standards.
• Place peripheral IV catheters and monitor vitals.
• Set up and manage IV fluids and subcutaneous therapy.
• Operate IV fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
• Monitor patient response to therapy and report abnormalities.
• Perform other relevant duties as needed.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Augusta, GA i s seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our thriving Surgery Team!

This position offers up to a $5,000 sign-on bonus based on experience

Schedule: 4x10s, Tues-Fri + on-call rotations

Pay: $19.50 - $38.50 / hour

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

We offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$3.00/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$3.00/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$4.50/hr. Shift Differential

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Utilize your ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Set up intravenous fluids.
• Administer subcutaneous fluids.
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• Disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
• Perform additional relevant job responsibilities.
