BluePearl Pet Hospital – Augusta, GA

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our skilled Surgery Team.

Schedule

Weekdays + some on‑call

This position offers up to a $7,500 sign‑on bonus based on experience.

Pay

$21.00 - $42.00 / hour. This pay band depends on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

Shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a four‑hour minimum.

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$3.00/hr (Shift Differential)
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$3.00/hr (Shift Differential)
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$4.50/hr (Shift Differential)

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Monitor anesthesia, troubleshoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions.
• Place intravenous catheters, perform endotracheal intubation, and use and maintain anesthetic equipment.
• Perform a physical exam; accurately count heart rate, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters and alert the doctor when abnormalities occur.
• Set up intravenous fluids and continuous renal infusion (CRI).
• Continuously expand knowledge and skillset with advanced anesthetic skills such as epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
• Be comfortable with medical math.
• Take a patient through the entire procedure from pre‑op, monitoring, post‑op, and recovery.
• Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, maintain medical records, invoice, and discharge patients.
• Disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
