Job summary

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets in New Orleans, LA seeks a Surgery Veterinary Technician to support the surgical team with prep, monitoring and post-operative care in a fast-paced hospital environment. You will manage patient histories, assist with anesthesia, and coordinate client communications while upholding MedVet's values of teamwork, leadership and compassion.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills and ability to liaison between surgeons and clients.
• Prior veterinary experience is required; surgery experience is desirable.
• Proficiency in calculations and charting related to patient care.

Responsibilities

• Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc
• Fill medications, enter charges and maintain accurate medical records, schedule appointments
• Create patient releases, navigate client conversations around treatment plans and financial obligations
• Prep patients for surgery, including shaving, scrubbing and positioning, assist with intubation and radiographs
• Proficiently perform blood draws and submit bloodwork
• Ensure documentation is accurate and complete
• Opening, turning over and cleaning operating rooms, as well as cleaning instruments and wrapping packs
