Job summary

Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, NJ seeks a part-time Unit Secretary for the Same Day Surgery unit. You will assist nursing staff with clerical duties, greet patients, manage charts and communications, and support admissions, transfers, and discharges.

Minimum requirement is a High School Diploma with 1 year of continued education preferred; 1–3 years of related experience is valued. Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to use office equipment and computer systems are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year of continued education is preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and basic office equipment is expected.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator and/or Charge Nurse in the efficient operation of the nursing unit.
• Check inventories, storeroom, and supplies; place orders as indicated by the Nurse Manager.
• Welcome admitted patients and orient them to their room and engagement system.
• Assist admissions/transfers/discharges and ensure charts are complete and accessible.
