Job summary

Lakewood Health System is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to join our surgical team at the Staples location. You will prepare and maintain sterile operating rooms, pass instruments during procedures, and support aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and smooth workflow.

Ideal candidates have a Surgical Technology program degree, CST credential (preferred), and BLS certification. This full-time role includes rotating shifts, on-call expectations, and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Current CST credential NBSTSA or NCCT preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and aseptic technique.
• Ability to maintain a sterile field and respond quickly in dynamic environments.

Responsibilities

• Play a vital role on the surgical team, partnering with surgeons, nurses, and staff to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.
• Prepare and maintain sterile operating rooms, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and supplies are ready for each procedure.
• Provide hands-on support during surgeries by passing instruments, anticipating needs, and maintaining a sterile field.
• Help ensure patient safety through precise surgical counts and adherence to aseptic techniques.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote efficient workflows and positive patient outcomes.
• Support daily operations by cleaning, restocking, and preparing rooms and case carts for upcoming procedures.
• Contribute to a team-focused environment through strong communication, professionalism, and support of peers.

About the Team

Our surgical team is a multi-disciplinary team comprised of surgeons, CRNAs, nurses, surgery technologists, and more. From family medicine providers performing C-Sections to orthopedic specialists reconstructing ACLs, our three operating rooms provide variety each day for all involved with the surgical services team.

Position Summary

• Prepare and maintain sterile operating rooms, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and supplies are ready for each procedure.
• Provide hands-on support during surgeries by passing instruments, anticipating needs, and maintaining a sterile field.
• Help ensure patient safety through precise surgical counts and adherence to aseptic techniques.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote efficient workflows and positive patient outcomes.
• Support daily operations by cleaning, restocking, and preparing rooms and case carts for upcoming procedures.

Position Type

This is a full-time position working 64 hours per pay period (0.8FTE). The schedule includes rotating late shifts, variable weekday call, approximately one holiday call rotation per year, and currently every seventh weekend call. Employees must be able to respond within 30 minutes when on call. Days off will vary.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential preferred (NBSTSA or NCCT)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and aseptic technique
• Ability to maintain a sterile field and respond quickly in dynamic environments

• 1+ year of surgical technologist experience preferred (new grads encouraged to apply)
