Job summary

Humane Fort Wayne in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a Surgery Suite Assistant/Transporter to help keep animals safe in the surgical suite and during transit. You will assist with loading, unloading, and basic care, supporting Vet Assistants and Technicians.

This role requires a high school diploma and a compassionate, team-oriented approach. Experience with animal handling and transport is preferred, and comfort with surgical procedures and anesthesia is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in patient care or animal handling preferred.
• Familiarity with veterinary transport is desirable.
• Strong communication and ability to work in a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Ensure comfort and safety of animals during transport in Fort Wayne and surrounding counties.
• Assist in loading/unloading animals from vehicles.
• Maintain records of transportation activities.
• Follow safety protocols for pre/post-surgical care.
• Provide basic animal care including feeding, hygiene, kennel cleaning.
• Support surgical operations by coordinating with Vet Assistants and Technicians.
