Job description

University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a full-time Surgery Scheduler for their Ear, Nose, and Throat Main office.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Location: 200 Lothrop Street (Presbyterian Hospital)

Department Details: UPP ENT provides care for a variety of patients, including those with head and neck cancer, facial plastic surgery needs, and sleep implants. We collaborate across physician teams to support our patients and deliver necessary care.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the department to troubleshoot procedural and operational issues
  • Coordinate and monitor patient follow-up using Refract Tracker and EPIC
  • Prepare and send necessary admission reservations and requisitions, including patient demographics and insurance details
  • Coordinate cases and communicate with hospital staff to obtain approval for admissions
  • Discuss and organize financial arrangements, including pre-payments prior to surgery
  • Ensure informed consents are signed
  • Provide pre- and post-operative instructions to patients based on specific guidelines
  • Organize patient education seminars and schedule physicians accordingly
  • Collect data for research studies
  • Schedule pre-screening exams, diagnostics, post-op appointments, and surgical cases
  • Maintain current and accurate billing and insurance information
  • Complete assigned special projects
  • Act as a liaison between patients and referring physicians
  • Obtain pre-certification and referrals before procedures
  • Coordinate and track internal and external marketing efforts
  • Attend and schedule department meetings
  • Respond to incoming inquiries regarding surgery and provide educational materials verbally and in print
