HCA Healthcare is seeking a Surgery Nurse Manager for TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Tennessee. This role oversees daily operations of the surgical unit, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care, staffing effectiveness, and adherence to clinical standards.

You will lead staffing, training, and professional development, collaborate across departments, and drive safety and quality initiatives in a premier healthcare system known for comprehensive services and a strong commitment to staff

Qualifications

• 5 years of related surgical clinical experience
• 1–2 years of progressive leadership experience
• Current RN license in Tennessee or compact state

Responsibilities

• Create a superior clinical identity by implementing evidence-based practices to improve patient safety and outcomes
• Manage staffing needs, including interviewing, hiring and training
• Oversee patient care on the unit and provide staff support and expertise
• Maintain unit workflow by ensuring appropriate staffing levels
• Coordinate unit activities, safety procedures, goals and operations
• Handle patient, visitor, or physician concerns promptly and professionally
• Provide leadership, coaching and counseling to department staff
• Collaborate with other disciplines to improve patient care delivery

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Surgery Nurse Manager ensures high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the unit/department. The Manager monitors and evaluates the provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures and holds staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes in support of facility objectives.

What you will do in this role:

• Help create a superior clinical identity by operationalizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes, while ensuring adherence to standards of care.
• Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
• Manage all staffing needs and personnel management including interviewing, hiring and training new staff members.
• Oversee care of patients on unit, providing consistent support and expertise to staff.
• Perform duties in accordance with unit specific standards of care and evidenced by completion of a competency skills check list.
• Maintain overall workflow of unit by ensuring proper staff levels.
• Manage and coordinate all unit activities including safety procedures, unit goals and department operations.
• Handle patient, visitor, or physician complaints promptly and in a professional manner.
• Provide leadership, coaching and counseling to department employees.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and departments to improve patient care delivery.

What qualifications you will need:

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Tennessee or compact state required.
• 5 years of related surgical clinical experience with 1-2 years of progressive leadership experience required.
