Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and board-certified Neurosurgeon to join a dynamic and growing healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in diagnosing and surgically treating disorders related to the brain, spine, and nervous system. This role offers the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art facility alongside a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. Additionally, there is an opportunity to develop and expand a Neurosurgery residency program in partnership with a prestigious university.

Practice Details:
  • Collaborate with a highly skilled and diverse team of physicians (6), APPs (6), support staff (13).
  • Established practice with potential for a busy clinic.
  • Involvement in residency program development.
  • Perform approximately 225+ cases annually, with a 70% spine and 30% cranial case mix.
  • One clinic day per week and two OR blocks per week.
  • 2-3+ procedures per OR block; approximately 20 patients per clinic day.
  • State-of-the-art equipment including Spine navi two second gen O-Arms, Medtronic S8 Stealth work stations, Stryker nav with cranial applications, penteros, Kinevo with 5-ALA, Jackson tables, TrueBam gamma knife system, 24/7 intraoperative neuro monitoring, and dedicated neuro ICU with 10 beds.
  • Coverage at a single hospital, University Medical Center, serving a large catchment area across West Texas and Eastern New Mexico.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform surgical procedures for neurological conditions such as brain tumors, spinal cord injuries, and peripheral nerve disorders.
  • Serve as the Neurosurgery Residency Program Director, overseeing training of residents.
  • Diagnose and manage nervous system diseases using advanced imaging and testing.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Provide preoperative and postoperative patient care, including consultations and follow-ups.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, with trauma call shared among four physicians, one week every three weeks, with assigned APPs.
  • Educate patients and families about treatment options, recovery, and post-surgical care.
