Job summary

UPMC Jameson/Horizon Surgery in New Castle, PA is seeking a Medical Assistant to support both back and front office duties while delivering high-quality patient care. The role sits within a growing regional surgery program serving the New Castle and Shenango Valley communities.

Hours are Monday through Friday, daylight hours with no evenings or weekends. Prior medical office and surgery scheduling experience is preferred, and compensation will align with the Medical Assistant Career Ladder based

Qualifications

• Previous medical office experience preferred.
• Surgery scheduling experience preferred.
• Strong patient-care orientation.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient medical records per HIPAA and regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports and schedule appointments; verify insurance.
• Prepare patient rooms; maintain infection control and inventory.
• Check schedules and organize patient flow; assist patients with visits and transfers.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs; assist physicians.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, PA health dept rules; maintain confidentiality.
• Under supervision of a physician, administer injectable meds and vaccines.
