Job summary

Allied Veterinary Specialists (AVS) seeks an experienced Surgery Lead Technician for our growing specialty surgery team. This internal posting invites a hands-on leader who can mentor others while remaining actively involved in patient care, anesthesia, and surgical nursing from consultations through recovery.

The ideal candidate will coordinate the Surgery department workflow, uphold clinical standards, and lead by example on communication, teamwork, and compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Strong veterinary technician experience, preferably in specialty surgery
• Experience with anesthesia monitoring and patient care from consult to recovery
• Ability to lead, mentor, and train technicians
• Excellent communication with doctors, staff, and leadership

Responsibilities

• Serve as a clinical and workflow resource for the Surgery technician team
• Coordinate daily Surgery department workflow and patient assignments
• Support surgical consultations, procedures, and hospitalized patients
• Oversee anesthesia preparation, monitoring, recovery, and patient safety
• Maintain surgical protocols, records, and department standards
• Train, mentor, and onboard Surgery technicians
• Promote sterile technique and OR readiness
