Job Description: Cardiovascular Surgeon

We are seeking a qualified Cardiovascular Surgeon for hospital-based call coverage. The position requires coverage starting as soon as credentialed, with no specific dates until an offer is accepted. The coverage includes weekends and some weekday nights, specifically Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and some vacation weekday call from 5 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Hospital Details:

• Location: Level 1 trauma center with 400 beds, including 12 ICU beds
• Patient load: 10-15 hospital-based patients daily, with 1-2 admissions, 8-10 ICU cases, and 1-2 surgeries
• EMR: Epic
• Staffing: 2 physicians and 5 mid-level providers in practice
• Requirement: Supervise and provide clinical oversight during on-call hours
• Note: No other thoracic surgeons will be present during locum call coverage
• Credentialing timeframe: 90 days

Required Procedures:

• General CV/Thoracic Surgery - open
• Coronary artery bypass surgery - on pump & off-pump
• Congenital defects (e.g., ASD)
• Valvular repair & replacement
• Aneurysm repair - cardiac & aorto-thoracic
• ECMO cannulation and patient stabilization for transport to academic center in Denver

Preferred Procedures:

• Evaluation and management of acute volume/BP issues
• Insertion of central line, arterial line, PA catheter, IABP

Submission Requirements:

• Board Certified Cardiovascular Surgery (ABMS/AOA) - Required
• Active Colorado License or active IMLC - Required
• Active BLS, ACLS - Required
• Ability to perform all required procedures - Required
• Clean background/no malpractice - Required
• COVID vaccinated - Required, noted at time of clearance
