Job summary

The Baptist Health System is seeking a Surgical Attendant to indirectly provide patient care in the perioperative area, following established practices. You will support the operating room team, position and prepare patients, transport specimens, and help maintain a safe, clean environment.

A sign-on bonus may be available to qualified candidates. Minimum education is a high school diploma or equivalent; hospital experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• No minimum experience required (preferred hospital experience).
• Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Sets up room to meet required needs and adjusts as directed.
• Assists in positioning and securing patient on operating table and performs patient care procedures as directed by RN.
• Cleans and maintains OR equipment and assigned areas.
• Transports patients using appropriate transfer techniques.
• Delivers specimens to laboratories as directed.
• Stocks supplies and reports items for reorder.
• Supports service excellence and effective patient hand-offs.

Job Summary

Indirectly provides patient care to perioperative patients along the continuum of the age spectrum following established practices and standards. Supports the mission statement, policies and procedures of the Baptist Health System. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

General Functions

• Assists in positioning and securing patient on correct operating table at designated time and performs patient care procedures as directed by RN
• Cleans and maintains OR equipment in assigned area
• Cleans operating room equipment and assigned areas
• Escorts or transports patients applying appropriate transfer techniques
• Delivers specimens to laboratories as directed
• Stocks supplies and reports items for reorder
• Serves as a role model for service excellence and commits to Studer Principles and “must haves”
• Supports effective patient hand-offs
• Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
• Maintains safe environment
• Addresses patient population-specific needs
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities
