Job summary

Baptist Health System in San Antonio, TX is seeking a patient care support role to provide basic nursing care under supervision of an RN. You will assist in General Nursing, Special Care Areas, Labor and Delivery, Nursery, Pediatrics, and GI Lab, delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.

Minimum education is a High School Diploma with preferred Nurse Assistant/EMT/Paramedic/Medical Assistant coursework.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent
• Preferred Nurse Assistant, EMT, Paramedic or Medical Assisting course
• 6 months in healthcare industry preferred
• Active Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) required; AHA/BLS within 60 days of hire
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention within 60 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of an RN, provides basic nursing care for assigned group of patients
• Supports General Nursing Units (patients aged 15 to maturity)
• Supports Special Care Areas (15 years through adult with high risk conditions)
• Provides Labor and Delivery care within Maternal Child Units
• Cares for newborns in Nursery and pediatrics up to 18 years
• Assist Emergency and Surgical Services per unit needs

Job Summary

Under the direction/supervision of an RN, provides basic nursing care for assigned group of patients

General Nursing Units cares for patients from age 15 years to maturity by clinically competent nursing staff.

Special Care Areas cares for patients from age 15 years through adult with high risk conditions by clinically competent nursing staff.

Maternal Child Units: Labor and Delivery care includes patients who have a pregnancy related condition by staff who are clinically competent in maternity care.

Nursery care includes care for newborn until discharge status by clinically competent staff.

Pediatric clinically competent staff provides care to patients from neonate through age of eighteen.

GI Lab Unit cares for toddlers, beginning age 24 months, through adult by clinically competent staff.

Chemical Dependent Unit and Psychiatric Unit cares for adult patients and family with holistic approach to emotional problems by clinically competent nursing staff.

Emergency Unit provides care to presenting patients of all ages by clinically competent staff in pediatric and high- risk adult care.

Surgical Services provides care to patients from neonate to geriatric.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent

PREFERRED EDUCATION: Satisfactorily completed a Nurse Assistant, EMT, Paramedic or Medical Assisting course.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 6 months in healthcare industry and/or knowledge of basic medical terms and procedures

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:

REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR):

• Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire

• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention obtained with 60 days of hire or transfer to position
