Versant Health is hiring a Technician, Surfacing Lab II (P) to operate fining and polishing equipment, apply lens blocks, and oversee coating processes on a Tue/Sat night schedule. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to follow complex procedures.

You will work with precision equipment, monitor process parameters, and ensure lenses meet quality standards. The position offers an hourly rate of $17.80 and a benefits package including health and dental insurance, tuition

Responsibilities

• Power up equipment and validate the equipment.
• Operate multiple fining and polishing machines.
• Fine lens for prescribed time according to material.
• Verify polish temperature and block lenses correctly.
• Load blocking stations and ensure blocks align with plates.
• Release alloy, monitor the process, and tray finished lenses.
• Load two lenses for automatic cleaning of coating.
• Inspect lenses for imperfections and place in tray for processing.
• Monitor auto-blocker and troubleshoot machine errors.
• Rotate among other functions in the department.

Scope and Purpose of Position

The purpose of this position is to fine, polish, manually apply a lens block to the lens front and apply lens coating according to work instructions

Essential Functions

• Powers up equipment and performs equipment validation process.
• Operates multiple fining and polishing machines simultaneously.
• Fines lens for predetermined amount of time according to lens material.
• Verifies the polish temperature.
• Loads the blocks in the blocking stations and ensures the blocks are flush with the plate.
• Releases alloy onto lens, monitor process, block and place both blocked lenses back intoappropriate tray for further processing.
• Loads two lenses at a time into machine to complete automatic cleaning for coating process.
• Removes lenses from machine and dry front of lens. Review for imperfections and places lenses in the tray.
• Monitors auto-blocker and troubleshoot machine errors.
• Picks up alloy, blocks and work from polishing stations as needed.
• Initials the surface equipment verification log to confirm machine validation.
• May rotate among other functions within the department.
• Practice and comply with all requirements of our Quality Management System (QMS), prescribed safety and hazardous materials handling procedures, and Federal/State laws regulating hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal

Education & Experience

• High Diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of related manufacturing experience preferred.
