Job summary

Longroad Energy's Clipper Windpower facility in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Surface Preparation Technician (Including Blasting) to refurbish wind turbine components. You will operate blasting and coating preparation equipment, follow safety protocols, and work with a team to maintain high quality in a manufacturing environment.

The role requires a strong work ethic, ability to read work orders and drawings, lift up to 50 pounds, and use tools from pallet jacks to overhead cranes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Familiarity with pneumatic and battery-powered tools.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts, jib cranes, and overhead cranes.
• Working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work safely in a manufacturing shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate pallet jack, forklift and overhead crane to support workflow.
• Prepare and blast or coat surfaces as part of cleaning and finishing operations.
• Read and interpret drawings, job travelers, and work orders.
• Maintain safety and housekeeping in the work area.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
