Job summary

Intrepid Potash is seeking a Surface Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot failures and perform comprehensive plant equipment maintenance. The role requires strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to work in safety-conscious, sometimes on-call conditions.

You will operate and maintain large equipment, perform preventative tasks, and support a 24/7 maintenance crew in a non-temperature controlled environment with PPE provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Driver’s License is required.
• Minimum two years of industrial maintenance experience.
• Crane operation experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, replace and/or rebuild malfunctioning equipment.
• Execute routine preventative maintenance checklist items including lubrication, greasing, replacing screens and pumps, oil checks.
• Maintain above-ground machinery, plumbing, pumps, conveyors, elevators, structures and compactors.
• Conduct pre-shift inspections to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
• Assist with maintenance and operation of mobile and heavy equipment including crane and forklift.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

As a Surface Maintenance Technician you will troubleshoot cause of failure, recommend repairs, and perform general maintenance of plant equipment, systems and surrounding building machinery. This position requires the ability to work safely, whether independently or within a team, a wide mechanical knowledge, and flexibility for on-call schedules.

JOB DUTIES

• Troubleshoot, repair, replace and/or rebuild malfunctioning equipment
• Execute routine preventative maintenance checklist items, including, but not limited to: lubrication and greasing of equipment, replacing screens and pumps, oil levels, etc.
• Maintain various equipment such above-ground machinery, plumbing, pumps, conveyors, elevators, structures and compactors.
• Conduct pre-shift inspections to ensure all equipment is operating safely and efficiently
• Assist with maintenance and operation of mobile and heavy equipment, including, but not limited to: crane, forklift, etc.
• Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Driver’s License
• Minimum two (2) years of industrial maintenance experience
• Crane operation experience preferred, but not required
• Must be able to provide own basic standard and metric tools
• Must be available to work a call-out schedule for a 24/7 operation

SCHEDULE AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

9 / 80 schedule. This is where you work 9 hour days and have every other Friday off (The Friday you do work is an 8 hour day.) Schedule subject to change.

As part of a 24/7 maintenance support team, employees will be on a rotating on-call schedule. Schedule subject to change.

• Outdoors, in a non-temperature controlled environment, and subject to weather conditions
• Exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels. Employees are required to wear safety attire and personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, and push and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders, work at heights, perceive color differences
• Will be required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and engage in strenuous physical activity

A pre-placement physical and hair follicle drug test will be required for anyone selected for this opportunity. Placement into the position will not be made until the results are received and cleared by Intrepid.
