Job summary

Intrepid Potash in Carlsbad, NM is hiring multiple Plant Operators to operate and monitor plant equipment, ensuring safe and efficient production of quality products. The role requires attention to detail and problem-solving skills to adjust and fix issues as they arise.

Duties include equipment monitoring, maintaining environmental controls, and performing routine inspections. A valid driver’s license and at least one year of general labor or industrial plant experience are required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure reliability of plant equipment (belt conveyors, pumps, screens, etc.).
• Maintain environmental requirements: monitor dust emissions, scrubber flow and pressure readings.
• Operate plant equipment (skid steers, bulldozers, loaders, etc.).
• Perform pre-shift inspections and preventative maintenance; report safety hazards.
• Maintain good housekeeping in assigned areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

We are hiring multiple Plant Operators for our Carlsbad location!

Operate and monitor plant equipment to produce quality products safely and efficiently. This position requires attention to detail and problem‑solving skills to make adjustments and fix any issues.

Job Duties

• Monitor and ensure the reliability of various industrial plant equipment, including, but not limited to: belt conveyors, pumps, screw conveyors, product elevators and product screens
• Ensure environmental requirements are maintained such as monitoring dust emissions, scrubber flow and pressure readings
• Operate plant equipment, including, but not limited to: skid steers, bulldozers, front end loaders, etc.
• Perform pre‑shift inspections, as well as preventative maintenance and equipment clean up, to ensure all equipment is operating safely and efficiently, and report any safety hazards to appropriate personnel
• Maintain good housekeeping in assigned areas
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Driver’s License
• Minimum one (1) year general labor and/or industrial plant experience

Schedule and Work Environment

12‑hour shifts, rotating shift schedule (day/night) – Mon – Thursday plus 2 Fridays a month. There will be OT through 2026 as we transition to having a 3rd crew. After that we will incorporate a 7 day long change once a month.

Schedule subject to change.

• Outdoors, in a non‑temperature controlled environment, and subject to weather conditions
• Exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels
  Employees are required to wear safety attire and personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times

Physical Requirements

• Standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, and push and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders, and potentially work at heights, perceive color differences
• Will be required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and engage in strenuous physical activity

A pre‑placement physical and hair follicle drug test will be required for anyone selected for this opportunity. Placement into the position will not be made until the results are received and cleared by Intrepid.
