Job summary

The North Dakota National Guard is seeking a Surface Maintenance Repairer (Position D1193000) under Title 32 Exempted Service. The role covers routine mechanical maintenance, use of hand and power tools, and applying basic mechanical knowledge to vehicle repair and readiness.

Responsibilities

• Use hand and power tools to perform mechanical repairs on vehicles and equipment.
• Remove, adjust, replace, clean and install parts and components.
• Understand and apply mechanical, electrical and hydraulic theory for vehicle maintenance.
• Read and interpret parts lists, manuals, diagrams and electrical schematics.
• Maintain and document maintenance tasks in accordance with ND National Guard procedures.

THIS IS A NORTH DAKOTA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This ND National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE REPAIRER, Position Description Number D1193000 and is part of the ND UTES, National Guard.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:

Applicant must have the experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and is able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

• 1) Using common hand and power tools and a small variety of test and measurement devices to make mechanical repairs;
• 2) Experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components, and accessories;
• 3) a basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to vehicles; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments;
• 4) An understanding of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships;
• 5) Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
