Job summary

Northern Star Resources Limited operates the Pogo mine in Alaska and seeks a Surface Operator to run heavy and light surface equipment, maintain roads and site facilities, and haul ore and waste between mining and processing areas.

The role requires a current driver's license, experience operating mining equipment, and MSHA awareness. The position offers a 14-on/14-off rotation with on-site camp facilities and transportation services.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy and light surface equipment to maintain roads and site facilities such as the dry stack.
• Unload and haul mineralised ore and waste between mining and processing operations.
• Construct and maintain surface haul roads, laydowns, and parking areas.
• Fuel static equipment and support on-site logistics and housekeeping.
• Review scheduled jobs for efficiency and opportunities for improvement.
• Follow MSHA safety policies, carry out Hazard ID checks, pre-start meetings, and incident reporting.

What’s the role?

The Surface Operatorreports to theSurfaceOperationsSupervisor, and the primary role isto operatevariousheavy and lightsurfaceequipment to maintain surface conditions,roadsand site facilitiessuch as the dry stack.

The specifics:

• Unloading of tractor trailer delivery trucks and knowledgeable of equipment load limits as well as load charts
• Safely and efficiently operate large and small equipment such ashaul trucks, loaders, excavators, graders, dozers, forklifts, bobcats, fuel wagon, water truck andsmall loaders.
• Fuelling static equipment such as heaters.
• Construction and maintenance of surface haul roads,laydownsand parking areas.
• Constructionand maintenanceof drystack facility.
• Haul mineralised ore and waste between mining and processing operations.
• Continuously review scheduled jobs to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure all safety related activities are undertaken in accordance with Company policy and MSHA requirements including Hazard ID’s, pre-start checks, pre-start meetings, and incident reporting
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas.
• Other duties as required.

The Details:

Working a 14 day on, 14 day off rotating schedule up to 12.0 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.

Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi-Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi-Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
