Job summary

Northern Star Resources Limited, Alaska site, is seeking a Mill Laborer for a temporary role within the Processing Operations Department. You will perform heavy physical tasks such as snow/ice removal, equipment operation, and general maintenance to support Mill Operators.

The position offers potential transition to a permanent role based on business needs and performance, with on-site camp facilities and a rotating schedule. Must pass background check and post-offer physical.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid driver's license.
• Experience operating small equipment such as scissor lifts and forklifts.
• Be capable of heavy physical labor, including shovelling for up to 8 hrs per day.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly.
• Aware of MSHA Act & Regulations.

Responsibilities

• Snow and ice removal.
• Safely operate light vehicles and plant (eg, skid steer, bobcat, forklift).
• Maintain clean conveyor areas.
• Clean out sumps.
• General cleaning around mill operations.
• Assist Mill Operators & Maintenance personnel as directed.
• Use hand tools safely.
• Follow safety policies and incident reporting procedures.
• Maintain high standard of housekeeping in all work areas.

What’s the role?

The Mill Laborer is a temporary position that reports to the Mill Supervisor, and the primary role is to perform heavy physical tasks as directed such as snow/ice removal, building, grounds & processing plant maintenance and providing general assistance to Mill Operators within the Processing Operations Department. Temporary roles often provide opportunities to transition into a full-time, permanent position within the company based on business needs and performance.

The specifics:

• Snow and ice removal
• Safely operatelight vehicles and plant (eg, skid steer, bobcat, forklift)
• Maintain clean conveyor areas
• Clean out sumps
• General cleaning around mill operations
• Assist Mill Operators & Maintenance personnel as directed
• Use hand tools safely
• Ensure all safety related activities are undertaken in accordance with Company policy and MSHA requirements including Hazard IDs, pre-start checks, pre-start meetings, and incident reporting.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas.
• Other duties as required

Qualifications Required

• Current Driver’s License.

Desired Experience & Competencies

• Experience operating small equipment such as scissor lifts and forklifts.
• Capable of heavy physical labor, including shovelling for up to 8 hrs per day.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly, from floor to chest without injury.
• Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
• Awareness of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.
• Be able to pass a background check and post offer physical.

Working a 14 day on, 7 day off rotating schedule up to 12.0 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.

Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi-Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi-Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
