Fisher Barton is seeking a Surface Engineering Technician 1 in Watertown, WI. You will operate, set up, program and troubleshoot coating machinery to keep lines running at capacity, while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role requires rotating through process steps, reading setup sheets and basic drawings, and logging data. It offers growth opportunities in a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on teamwork and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Read, write and communicate English effectively.
• Adept with basic mathematics.
• Proficient in troubleshooting problems to rapidly obtain successful outcomes.
• Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Windows).
• Ability to work well with personnel from all levels in all functions of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety and quality procedures and regulations.
• Transfer high quality engineered coatings onto parts.
• Rotate through multiple process steps in at least one process area, including washing, masking, grit blasting, feeding, spraying/cladding, loading/unloading, heat treating, inspection and packaging.
• Operate, setup and troubleshoot all equipment within the production cell following work instructions.
• Log time, task completion, and inspection results.
• Read setup sheets and basic part drawings, and understand statistical process trends.
• Comply with Quality System and ISO 9000 requirements.
• Maintain quality and process documentation.
• Collaborate with technicians, engineering and leads to improve safety, quality, efficiency and productivity.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement teams and training.
• Maintain housekeeping and 5S in the work area.
