Job summary

Sompo seeks an Underwriting Assistant for its Surety unit, based in Los Angeles, CA or Mount Juliet, TN. You will support underwriters, manage data entry, and maintain strong agency relationships, ensuring timely service and accurate rating scenarios.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in underwriting support, top attention to detail, and proficiency with Excel, Outlook, and document tools. Collaborative team environment and growth opportunities await.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience as a Technical Assistant or Underwriting Assistant performing similar responsibilities.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills with effective written and verbal communication.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Edge/Chrome, and Nitro Pro or Adobe.

Responsibilities

• Process Surety business through data entry, Underwriter support, understanding rating scenarios, and producing error-free work.
• Develop relationships with underwriters and agencies, serving as first point of contact for inquiries.
• Maintain relationships with agencies and clients.
• Knowledge of filed rates, minimum premium, rater, and line cards.
• Manage internal reports: monthly renewal, status reports, data cleanup, and submission statuses.
• Provide support to Surety UW Center team (other UAs, account management, bond forms, collections).
