Job summary

Rochester Regional Health seeks a Supervisor, Technologist to plan, direct and supervise Specialty Radiologic Technologists at Unity Hospital. The role ensures multi-modality imaging services meet standards and that staff licensure and training are current.

The supervisor will lead staffing decisions, annual appraisals, and ongoing education while coordinating with radiologists to ensure high-quality patient care across shifts.

Qualifications

• Two years of clinical imaging experience in accredited modalities (XR, CT, MRI, US, etc.).
• Licensure/certifications: ARRT, NYS license; RDMS for Sonography; NMTCB for NM.
• State or modality specific licensure requirements are met and current.
• Strong leadership, communication, and patient care skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Specialty Radiologic Technologists and direct multi-modality services.
• Maintain current licensure/certification for staff and ensure quality imaging.
• Attend Leadership meetings and cascade information to staff.
• Participate in hiring processes and make staffing recommendations.
• Conduct annual performance appraisals and mandatory in-services.
• Train staff on updated procedures and ensure competency.
• Maintain equipment and supplies; report malfunctions promptly.
• Assign studies and coordinate staff across shifts and areas.
• Oversee imaging procedures and ensure documentation in RIS/PACS.
• Call preliminary reports to doctors as requested by Radiologist.

JOB TITLE: Supervisor, Technologist

STATUS: Full time

DEPARTMENT: Diagnostic Imaging Central Support

SCHEDULE: Days, Mon-Fri, 8am-430pm

SUMMARY

Plans, directs and supervises Specialty Radiologic Technologists. Maintains multi-modality radiologic services in accordance with established hospital, Federal and State standards, assists radiologist with difficult procedures and performs general technical duties when workload is heavy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assures compliance for current licensure/certification on all staff.

• Maintains accountability for patient throughout and image quality in assigned supervisory areas.

• Attends Leadership meetings and cascades information to staff.

• Responsible for participating in the interview process and making recommendation for hiring of staff as needed.

• Performs Annual Performance appraisals and ensures mandatory in-services are completed within set time frame.

• Technologists are trained and provided with current updated procedural changes.

• Maintains equipment and supplies in accordance with hospital process and procedure. Equipment malfunctions are reported immediately to the direct report and service personnel.

• Responsible for assigning studies to technologists and coordinating staff availability with other supervisors.

• Responsible for the imaging procedures of all patients in all areas as needed.

• Supervises employees on all shifts and assures that all duties are performed.

• Maintains accountability for proper documentation of exams and related procedures utilizing the RIS/PACS.

• Calls preliminary reports to doctor’s offices or nursing floors at the request of the Radiologist.

• Responsible for reviewing and sign off for overtime submitted by staff.

• Excellent customer service behaviors will be expected and employees held accountable thereof.

• Performs exams and other duties within the scope of licensure (either XR or US).

• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Two years of clinical experience in an accredited imaging modality (e.g., Radiography, Ultrasound/Sonography, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, or related field)

XR, CT, MRI, Mammography:

• 2 year college degree or equivalent

Sonography:

• 4 year college degree or equivalent

Nuclear Medicine:

• 4 year college degree or equivalent

Required Licensure/Certifications:

• XR, CT, MRI, Mammography

• ARRT certification

• NYS license

Sonography:

• RDMS registered

Nuclear Medicine:

• NMTCB certification

• NYS license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Five years of clinical experience in an accredited imaging modality (e.g., Radiography, Ultrasound/Sonography, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, or related field)

• Prior supervisory experience
