Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a supervisor to lead and develop transportation staff, ensuring on-time, damage-free shipments and superior customer service. The role emphasizes safety, cost control and efficient daily operations within a busy service center context.

You will plan manpower, assign work, monitor performance, and collaborate with internal teams to meet strict service standards while promoting a safe working environment and professional growth for employees.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Knowledge of LTL industry, DOT/OSHA rules, NMFC and tariff rules and related policies is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Multi-tasking with strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, educate and develop employees.
• Supervise and direct employee work with focus on quality, safety and customer deliverables.
• Address unsafe acts/conditions and apply corrective actions.
• Plan daily manpower and schedule to ensure on-time, damage-free delivery and pickup.
• Communicate clear job assignments and coordinate with staff.
• Monitor service freight and ensure compliance with cut times.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency while maintaining safety.
• Assist customers with rate quotes, claims information and setting appointments.
• Gather data for reporting and communicate with business partners to meet service standards.
• Identify freight with incorrect weight/classification and ensure proper OS&D handling.
• Perform administrative duties and comply with laws, regulations and policies.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Lead employees to ensure customer satisfaction by moving all shipments on time and damage free

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Lead, manage, educate and develop company employees focusing on retention and growth
• Supervise and direct employee work (including pre-shifts) with a focus on outstanding quality, customer deliverables and safety performance identifying and overseeing improvement
• Actively monitor, record and educate employees regarding unsafe acts/conditions correcting immediately using corrective action as need. Provide feedback and follow-up with all impacted employees.
• Plan daily manpower needs and set schedules to ensure customers' freight is delivered and picked-up timely and damage free
• Communicate job assignments coordinating with all employees ensuring direction is clear and concise
• Monitor service freight and ensure cut time compliance
• Monitor, analyze and address all opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiencies while maintaining rigorous safety standards
• Assist customers with rate quotes, claim information and setting appointments
• Monitor actual performance data and gather information for reporting
• Build relationships and positive communications with all business partners to ensure customers' and company's service standards are met
• Identify freight moving at incorrect weight and classification
• Ensure all OS&D is identified and processed properly
• Perform administrative functions as required
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
• Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

Pay:

Annual Salary: $63,901.00 - $100,964.00
