Job summary

FedEx Freight in South Brunswick, NJ is seeking a supervisor to lead a team responsible for moving shipments on time and damage-free. You will oversee scheduling, training, safety, and quality, coordinating with service center staff and customers.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA laws, NMFC, Tariff Rules, and DOT regulations; company policies and procedures.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Multi-tasked and organized; proficient with Microsoft Office and Internet.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, educate and develop employees with a focus on retention and growth.
  • Supervise and direct work with emphasis on quality, safety, and timely deliveries.
  • Monitor and correct unsafe acts/conditions and provide follow-up feedback.
  • Plan daily manpower and set schedules to ensure on-time, damage-free freight.
  • Communicate assignments clearly and coordinate with all employees.
  • Monitor service freight and ensure cut time compliance.
  • Identify opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiencies while maintaining safety.
  • Assist customers with rate quotes, claim information, and scheduling.
  • Monitor performance data and generate reports.
  • Build strong relationships with business partners to meet service standards.
  • Identify freight with incorrect weight/classification and ensure proper OS&D handling.
  • Perform administrative duties and comply with laws/regulations and company procedures.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Lead employees to ensure customer satisfaction by moving all shipments on time and damage free

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Lead, manage, educate and develop company employees focusing on retention and growth
  • Supervise and direct employee work (including pre-shifts) with a focus on outstanding quality, customer deliverables and safety performance identifying and overseeing improvement
  • Actively monitor, record and educate employees regarding unsafe acts/conditions correcting immediately using corrective action as need. Provide feedback and follow-up with all impacted employees.
  • Plan daily manpower needs and set schedules to ensure customers' freight is delivered and picked-up timely and damage free
  • Communicate job assignments coordinating with all employees ensuring direction is clear and concise
  • Monitor service freight and ensure cut time compliance
  • Monitor, analyze and address all opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiencies while maintaining rigorous safety standards
  • Assist customers with rate quotes, claim information and setting appointments
  • Monitor actual performance data and gather information for reporting
  • Build relationships and positive communications with all business partners to ensure customers' and company's service standards are met
  • Identify freight moving at incorrect weight and classification
  • Ensure all OS&D is identified and processed properly
  • Perform administrative functions as required
  • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
  • Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Dock environment; exposure to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, noise
  • Hours may vary due to operational need
  • Frequent contact with service center personnel; fast-paced, deadline oriented

Pay

Annual Salary: $63,901.00 - $82,432.00

This compensation range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting pay range in NJ. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay is determined by experience relative to the job, market level, specific location and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Regular full & part-time employees (who complete 91 days of employment and work a minimum average of 12 hours per week) are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, and/or vision coverage, tuition reimbursement. Full/part-time employees who are age 21 are eligible for 401(k) after one month of employment.
