Job summary

Laurel Heights Hospital is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to lead bedside nursing and patient care delivery in our behavioral health unit. You will work with the Nursing Director to shape care delivery for youth with psychiatric and neurodevelopmental needs.

The role requires RN licensure in Georgia, nursing leadership experience, and strong skills in communication, case management, and crisis intervention. Weekend or off-hour coverage may be needed to meet hospital needs.

Qualifications

• Georgia Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) required.
• Experience in patient care and in individual, group and family therapy preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, case management, time management and crisis intervention skills.

Responsibilities

• Daily monitoring of admissions, incidents and care plans; update care plans and educate staff.
• Assist Nursing Director with reviewing nursing practices and policy implementation.
• Participate in Performance Improvement and audits related to patient events and practice deficiencies.
• Resolve pending issues from the previous shift and ensure continuity of care.
• Conduct unit care audits and ensure compliance with infection control and medication handling procedures.
• Coordinate scheduling to meet census-based ratios and collaborate with other departments for quality patient care.

We strive to cater our approach to treatment to the needs of each child who comes into our care.

Treatment programs at Laurel Heights Hospital are structured for youth ages 6–17 who are dealing with general psychiatric difficulties and trauma. We also offer specialty mental healthprograms for children with co-occurring neurodevelopmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The Nurse Manager roleis a great position that allows you to remain close to the bedside but allows you to serve as a front-line nurse leader. You will play a pivotalrolein shaping the future of patient care in this specialized field. In collaboration with the Nursing Director the Nurse Manager is responsible the leadership and management. The Nurse Manager fosters associate's commitment to improving quality and safety of patient care outcomes. Thisroleoffers the chance to direct and coordinate the nursing and patient care delivery of the unit-based professional. 1 years of experience in nursing leadership and behavioral health required.

The role would be Monday-Friday with the possibility of weekend/off hour coverage to meet the needs of the hospital.

Duties:

• Daily monitoring and review of patient admissions, incidents, and change of condition for process completion, appropriate treatment and/or interventions, updating of care plans, and educating staff on changes of condition and interventions
• Assist Director of Nursing will review current nursing practices and policy and assist with implementation
• Participates in Performance Improvement and assist with audits related to patient events, incidents, or practice deficiencies
• Resolve pending issues from the previous shift
• Compliance Audit Related to Infection Control, e.g., glucometer, refrigerator, sharps containers,hand washing and flu campaign.
• Med Room Audits,Medication storage, medication returns, medication destruction, calling pharmacy to resolve medication issues.
• Conduct code blue drills
• Admission and discharge audits. Check/audit the proper completion of any nursing procedure (at discretion of DON) to assure compliance.
• responsible for maintaining the daily scheduling of units according to approved ratios based on census.
• Collaborates with other departments and agencies regarding resources and services for quality patient care delivery.

Qualifications

Georgia Licensed Registered Nurse; experience in patient setting preferred, experience in individual, group and family therapy; written and oral communication skills, skills in case management, time management, and crisis intervention. Knowledge of developmental psychology of children and youth, needs of children and youth; Skills in maintaining information as highly confidential; must demonstrate the ability to treat other age populations as needed or have the capacity to develop skills through the organization’s cross-training orientation program. Ability to clearly summarize pertinent clinical information via written correspondence and medical records documentation. In the absence of these qualifications upon hire, must demonstrate ability to learn these concepts and develop these skills within reasonable time frame. Maintains current Georgia License as a Registered Nurse. Must have a valid driver’s license in state of residency
