Job summary

Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) at Fort Meade seeks a senior IT supervisor in the Cyber Excepted Service to oversee installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of information systems, ensuring continuous availability for mission critical operations.

This GG-13 level position requires leadership of technical staff and experience implementing DoD INFOSEC policies and RMF standards. Telework is considered per mission needs; US citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or Graduate Education: degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or a degree with 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields above.
• Attention to Detail - experience reviewing IT-related work to ensure accuracy, completeness and standards.
• Customer Service - develop and maintain relationships with customers and identify IT needs.
• Oral Communication - briefing senior management and IT staff on status and complex information.
• Problem Solving - identify alternatives for highly complex IT issues.
• Qualifying Experience - 1 year at GG-13 level for immediate success in the position.
• For This Position, Qualifying Experience Is Defined As - supervising or leading a technical team in admin and security of enterprise network devices with DoD INFOSEC policies and RMF.

Summary

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Supervision/Management Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA (HC3A24).

Duties

• Responsible for the overall management of functions and staff required to support the installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of hardware and software to ensure the availability and functionality of information systems.
• Manages and directs accomplishment of highly critical mission and functions of the organization supported.
• Continually keeps abreast of state-of-the-art advanced technology. Studies appropriate journals, participates in computer users technical seminars, maintains contacts with vendor personnel, and takes other actions as appropriate to maintain.

• This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
• In accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subject to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements overall in 12 months.
• This is a drug testing position.
• Subject to recall or call back during off shift hours, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Maybe subject to varying work shifts and work shift rotations for mission support requirement of 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Basic Requirements

Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

OR

Attention to Detail - experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been responsible for reviewing the work of others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.

Customer Service

Developing and maintaining relationships with customers, anticipating and assessing the current and future information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products or services that are tailored to meet customer needs.

Oral Communication

Briefing senior-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of complex technical information to a non-technical audience.

Problem Solving

Identifying alternatives to address unique, highly complex, or sensitive information technology-related issues. I have anticipated information technology-related problems and have identified and evaluated potential sources of information to generate alternative solutions.

Qualifying Experience

To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For This Position, Qualifying Experience Is Defined As

Experience includes supervising or leading a technical team in the administration and security of enterprise network devices (e.g., switches, and firewalls) while overseeing the implementation of Department of Defense (DoD) Information Security (INFOSEC) policies and Risk Management Framework (RMF) standards.

Education

There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GG-13 grade level. To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. You must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions that are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Foreign Education

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services at the time of application.
