Job summary

Vulcan Materials Company in Jacksonville, FL, is seeking a Logistics Supervisor to lead Logistics Coordinators, ensure accurate order entry, timely delivery, and outstanding customer service. This role drives staff performance, training, and coordination with sales, operations, and customers to meet project needs.

You will recruit and develop talent, review daily reports, and optimize trucking capacity while upholding safety and company policies in a fast-paced construction materials environment.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in business administration, logistics, construction management or related field is desirable.
  • Minimum three (3) years of work experience in construction materials or related industry; minimum one year in supervisory, customer service, and logistics roles.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and coordinates Logistics Coordinators for accurate order entry, timely delivery, and excellent customer service.
  • Participates in recruitment, approves hiring decisions for open vacancies.
  • Provides coaching and feedback; ensures staff training and instruction.
  • Collaborates with sales, operations, and customers to meet product needs.
  • Acts as liaison among customers, haulers, sales staff, and dispatchers for site activities.
  • Maximizes trucking capacity at customer job-sites with sales and dispatch.
  • Attends pre-job meetings and reviews daily order entry for accuracy.
  • Resolves customer issues and assists AR with disputed invoices and times.

  • Supervises and coordinates Logistics Coordinators (LCs) responsible for accurate order entry, timely delivery, and excellent customer service.
  • Attracts, retains, and motivates staff. Conducts effective and timely performance dialogues with staff members every quarter.
  • Participates in the recruitment process, approving the selection and hiring of employees for open job vacancies
  • Provides coaching and feedback to employees under his or her area of responsibility.
  • Ensures that employees receive proper training and instruction to perform assigned job duties.
  • Works closely with sales, operations, and customers to ensure products meet customer needs and expectations.
  • Performs and coordinates job-site activities by acting as a liaison between customers, haulers, sales staff, and dispatchers.
  • Works closely with sales and dispatchers to maximize trucking capacity at customer job-sites.
  • Attends pre-job meetings to discuss project and customer requirements.
  • Review daily order entry for completeness and accuracy.
  • Attend meetings as necessary with other departments.
  • Responsible for resolving issues/concerns with customers.
  • Assists Accounts Receivable in investigating disputed invoices, stand-by time, missing tickets, and missing ticket times.
  • Reviews, approves, and maintains daily reports.
  • Approves time cards, authorizes/maintains LC schedules, and tracks vacation usage.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities
Education
  • BS/BA in business administration, logistics, construction management, or related degree is desirable, or an equivalent combination of training and work experience.
Experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in construction materials or related industry. A minimum of one year of supervisory, customer service, and logistics experience is also required.

Other Requirements
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.

  • Capable of travel (both ground and air) as needed.
  • Will be required to utilize proper personal protective equipment while on job sites.This may include the use of hearing and/or respiratory protection.
  • Varying work schedule, including nights and weekends.
