Sinnissippi Centers, Inc. in Dixon, IL is seeking a SUPR Peer Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) to provide recovery-oriented, person-centered, trauma-informed services, advocate, and support individuals seeking treatment.

The RSS will help clients recover, promoting WRAP and MHFA education and increasing ORACL activity. The role requires lived experience as a consumer of substance use/mental health services, GED or higher, strong public speaking and group facilitation skills, and a valid

Qualifications

  • Lived experience as a consumer of substance use/mental health services.
  • GED or higher education.
  • Public speaking and communication skills.
  • Experience either as a consumer of or facilitator of groups.
  • Ability to utilize computers for service documentation.
  • Teaching skills, non-judgmental personality, and empathic listening skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with automobile liability insurance (including uninsured motorist coverage).
  • Current CRSS or willingness to pursue CRSS state certification while on the job.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in statewide events/summits/training/activities supporting WRAP, MHFA, Recovery Support and Consumer Provider Services.
  • Communicate with outpatient team when appropriate for consumer care.
  • Educate individuals on wellness and recovery support.
  • Educate individuals on making treatment work for their choices in recovery.
  • Advocate for individuals with professionalism and non-adversarial approaches.
  • Serve as a role model for Recovery.
  • Facilitate group and individual sessions.
  • Awareness of recovery planning needs and development.

Job description

Through hope & healing, Sinnissippi Centers strives to empower all to live their best lives.

Sinnissippi is looking for a SUPR Peer Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) who shall provide recovery-oriented, person-centered, and trauma-informed services, advocate; and provide information and support for individuals seeking treatment. The RSS shall perform a wide range of tasks to assist clients (receiving services) in recovery and reclaiming their lives. The RSS will possess the skills to maintain high professionalism, ethics, and positive interactions. In addition, the RSS will help increase wellness and recovery education and reduce stigma throughout Illinois, in targeted communities, and at SCI. The RSS will, when applicable, promote or educate on the components of Wellness and Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and help to increase Online Recovery Academy and CRSS Library (ORACL) activity. The RSS will complete other duties related to recovery support services and other state and federal grant deliverables.

Requirements

Pay

Pay: $18.97 - $19.91 per hour
