Job summary

The Hiller Companies, LLC is actively seeking a Fire Suppression Technician - Hoods & Extinguishers to inspect, maintain, and service extinguishers, hood systems, and Clean Agent systems. The role emphasizes safety, thorough inspections, and quality customer service.

Responsibilities include on-site maintenance, system recharge, parts replacement, and training customers in proper operation while ensuring compliance with codes and standards. Valid driving license required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in fire protection preferred.
• Manufacture Training Certifications and CSA Certification preferred.
• 2 years of experience in fire extinguisher inspection, maintenance, and repair.
• 2 years of hood system inspection, maintenance, and repair.
• 2 years of Clean agent system inspection, maintenance, and repair.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hand and power tools.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections of extinguishers, kitchen suppression hoods, and Clean agent systems to ensure compliance.
• Perform maintenance tasks including disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly of extinguishers and hood systems.
• Inspect and replace parts such as valves, hoses, nozzles, seals, fusible links, actuators.
• Recharge and pressurize extinguishing agents following established procedures.
• Install and service brackets, nozzles, signage, and related safety equipment.
• Provide on-site training to customers on proper use and maintenance.
• Respond promptly to service calls and emergencies, troubleshooting as needed.
• Maintain records of inspections and repairs using Service Trade platform.
• Assist with inventory management of components and stock.
• Coordinate with Service Coordinators to optimize work orders and routing.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to safety guidelines.
• Stay updated on fire safety technologies and regulations.
• Perform semi-annual and annual inspections of hood and clean agent systems.

Job Summary:

A Suppression Service Technician – Hoods, Extinguishers, and CASUP is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and servicing of fire extinguishers, kitchen suppression hoods, and Clean Agent systems in accordance with industry standards and regulations. This role is critical in safeguarding lives and property by conducting thorough inspections, performing required maintenance, and providing expert service to our valued customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine inspections of fire extinguishers, kitchen suppression hoods, and Clean agent to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Perform detailed maintenance tasks, including disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly of fire extinguishers, suppression hood systems, and clean agent systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Inspect and replace parts/components as needed, such as valves, hoses, nozzles, seals, fusible links, detection lines, and actuators to maintain equipment functionality.
• Recharge fire extinguishers and suppression systems with appropriate extinguishing agents and pressurize them to recommended levels, following established procedures.
• Install and service fire extinguisher brackets, suppression nozzles, signage, and related safety equipment to ensure proper mounting and coverage.
• Provide on-site training to customers on the proper use and maintenance of fire extinguishers and suppression systems, promoting fire safety awareness and compliance.
• Respond promptly to service calls and emergency requests, troubleshooting issues and resolving them efficiently to minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of service activities, including inspections, repairs, replacements, and customer interactions, using Service Trade platform.
• Assist with inventory management of fire extinguisher, suppression hood components, and stock, ensuring adequate supply levels and proper storage conditions.
• Work closely with Service Coordinator(s) to optimize work orders, routes, and job scheduling, focusing on efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, always adhering to safety guidelines, protocols, and procedures.
• Stay updated on the latest fire safety technologies, regulations, and best practices for both fire extinguishers and kitchen suppression systems.
• Perform semi-annual and annual inspections of kitchen suppression and clean agent systems, including functional testing and discharge simulations when required.

What We Are Looking For:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in fire protection or related field preferred.
• Manufacture Training Certifications and CSA Certification preferred.
• 2 years of experience in fire extinguisher inspection, maintenance, and repair preferred.
• 2 years of experience in hood system inspection, maintenance, and repair preferred.
• 2 years of experience in Clean agent system inspection, maintenance, and repair preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to use hand and power tools effectively.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working in various environments, including industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and outdoor settings.
• Capable of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces as needed.
