Job summary

Charlotte Public Schools is seeking a General Education/Lunch-Recess Paraprofessional at Galewood Elementary to support lunchroom and playground supervision. The role focuses on creating a well-organized, safe environment and assisting in delivering the instructional program.

The schedule runs Monday through Friday for 3.5 hours daily, 10:00 am to 1:30 pm. Candidates should be at least 18, have a high school diploma, and be willing to complete required training.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma.
• Successful completion of paraprofessional testing and CPI training, or willingness to obtain.
• Previous experience working with students is desired.
• Cooperates successfully as a member of a team.
• Communicates effectively with others, including giving and receiving feedback on the quality of services.
• Meet any specific content area requirements.
• Participate in trainings provided by CPS and any other trainings deemed necessary by the agency. It is also important to bring back and share information presented at such meetings.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with staff, consultants, and regulatory/funding representatives in a team-oriented environment.
• Detail Oriented, logical, and methodological approach to problem solving.
• Flexible, with the ability to work in a highly demanding, stressful environment.

Responsibilities

• The paraprofessional's goal is to provide additional support in the lunchroom/playground and assist in delivering a well-organized, smooth functioning school environment.
• The primary function of this role will be lunchroom and playground supervision.
