Job summary

Amethod Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support students under the direction of a certified teacher in a California classroom. The role focuses on safety, dignity, and daily instructional support while aiding with student needs.

The assistant helps with lesson setup, basic record keeping, and supervision during drills, assemblies, and field trips, collaborating with teachers and families to promote student growth and well-being.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students in a school setting.
• Strong organization, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Must pass a DOJ background check.
• Willing to create and follow through with an individualized professional development plan.
• Ability to demonstrate skills in development of academic activities.
• High level of communication skills, both written and oral.
• Strong initiative and ability to solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Monitors students and groups to maintain a safe environment.
• Assists teachers and parents with lesson plans and scheduling.
• Performs basic record keeping and clerical tasks.
• Supports maintaining students' files and classroom materials.
• Maintains classroom equipment and supplies for a safe learning environment.
• Consults with the teacher daily about problems and information.
• Assists in supervision during drills, assemblies, play periods and field trips.
• Administers tests to assist the teacher.
• Participates in meetings to receive and provide information.
• Contacts parents when requested by the teacher or administrator.
