The City Attorney's Office is seeking a Support Technician to perform clerical duties and provide general office support and assistance for its attorneys and other personnel. The Support Technician will be responsible for delivering and picking up documents, maintaining and updating records, preparing reports, processing contracts and routine legal documents, maintaining and updating library resources, receiving and processing payments and handling other financial transactions, handling and processing legal correspondence, mail, and other documents, opening and closing files, assisting with file management (including entering data, maintaining and utilizing databases, and copying and scanning documents), answering and directing telephone inquiries, addressing or forwarding issues presented by visitors and callers, and generally providing assistance and support as needed. Work will also include gathering information for administrative proceedings, personal injury incidents, and property damage claims and preparing documents and reports related to the administrative proceedings and claims, all under attorney supervision.
The City Attorney’s Office represents the City, the School Board, the Norfolk Employee’s Retirement System, and other boards and commissions in legal matters. The City Attorney’s Office defends its clients in all litigation, files suits on behalf of its clients, prepares sound legislation for consideration by City Council, provides impartial advice, prepares contracts, ordinances and provides other legal services as necessary.
Department Hiring Salary Range: $42,262.08 - $70,609.37
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
One year of general office work experience. A bachelor's degree or above may substitute work experience (as approved by the department).
Working Hours: Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm /40 hours per week
