Support Staff Kitchen/Maintenance

Department: Homelani Camp and Conference Center

Supervisor: Food Service Director & Maintenance Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, On Call

Location: Honolulu, HI

Job Summary: To provide general support duties in the areas of food service and/or maintenance.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license
• Valid Hawaii driver’s license

Essential Functions

• Adheres to all Salvation Army, American Camping Association (ACA), and government guidelines and requirements.

Food Service Responsibilities

• Dishwashing, mopping, cleaning, serving, food prep, and general sanitation.

Maintenance Responsibilities

• Janitorial duties, housekeeping duties, yard maintenance, and program setup/breakdown.

Other Functions

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Director and/or Camp Director.

• Work under stressful conditions.
• Interact with others with courtesy and tact.
• Manage and prioritize multiple projects in an organized and efficient manner to meet tight deadlines.
• Respond to crisis situations in a calm and effective manner.
• Complete projects on schedule.

Physical Demands

The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye‑hand coordination; use of vision; driving a vehicle; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 25‑50 pounds and occasionally more than 50 pounds; traveling by airplane.

Communication Demands

The position requires talking to co‑workers, clients, vendors; written communication to and from co‑workers, clients, vendor; talking on the telephone; responding to written or verbal requests; training/giving verbal and written instructions; receiving verbal and written instructions; writing/composing written language; reading; visiting/working at other worksites; communication via the latest technologies.

Equipment Needs

• Use office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, scanners, calculators, etc.

Work Environment

Most work will be indoors in a kitchen environment.
