Job summary

Ascensus, the leading independent technology and service platform powering savings plans across America, seeks an experienced Software Engineer to join a high-energy, collaborative team. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable .NET applications using C#, ASP.NET, and modern patterns.

You will modernize legacy VB6 to .NET 4.5+ and build custom extensions for content capture with Kofax, while embracing CI/CD, automation, and agile practices to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining .NET applications in C#.

Section 1: Position Summary

As aSoftwareEngineerat Ascensus, you will be part of a high-energy, collaborative team focused on delivering innovativesoftwaresolutions using modernengineering practices - including unit testing, source control, continuous integration, automation, and design patterns.

In this role, you will leverage your expertise inC# and the .NET frameworkto design, develop, and maintain scalable applications, includingcustomized extensions for content capture and storage platforms such as Kofax. You will also be responsible formodernizing legacy systems, including themigration of VB6 applications to .NET 4.5+.

Section 2: JobFunctions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for protecting, securing, and handling all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

• Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional, scalable, and maintainablesoftwaresolutions.
• Design, develop, test, document, and maintain efficient.NET applicationsusingC#,ASP.NET, and related frameworks.
• Developcustom extensions and enhancements for Kofax applicationsto improve content capture and document processing.
• Identify, design, and implement solutions to improve application performance, scalability, and responsiveness.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues in a timely manner in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Participate in the fullSoftwareDevelopment Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirement gathering, architecture design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support.
• Support people and process improvement strategies for the organization.
• Migrate and modernize legacy systems, includingVB6 to .NET 4.5+ conversions.
• Develop and consumeweb services (REST/SOAP)and integrate them with existing applications.
• Collaborate closely with other developers, QAengineers, DevOps, and support teams to ensure smooth deployment and continuous operation.
• Apply automation, continuous integration, and deployment (CI/CD) practices to streamline releases.
• UtilizeAI toolsto automate workflows, enhance productivity, and integrate intelligent features in application development.
• Leverage containerization tools such asDockerorKubernetesto support scalable deployment architectures.
• Engage in design discussions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Assist in estimating, sprint planning, and Agile ceremonies as part of a Scrum team.
• Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.

Section 3: Experience, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements

• Education & Experience:
  • 3+ years of professionalsoftwaredevelopment experience in small to medium-scale business environments.
  • Hands-on experience developing and maintaining .NET applications inC#for at least 3 years.
  • Experience withKofax Captureor similar content capture systems preferred.
  • Experience modernizing and migratingVB6or other legacy applications to.NET 4.5+.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency inC#,ASP.NET,.NET Framework 4.5+, and related technologies.
  • Strong understanding ofObject-Oriented Programming (OOP)and design principles (S.O.L.I.D., cohesion, coupling, design patterns).
  • Experience withMicrosoft SQL ServerorOracledatabases; ability to design efficient schemas and stored procedures.
  • Proficient inXML,JSON, andHTML5.
  • Familiarity withServices-Oriented Architecture (SOA)andRESTful APIs.
  • Experience withcontainerization(Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar).
  • Understanding ofweb technologiessuch as HTTP, proxies, and Apache/Nginx.
  • Experience withversion control systems(Git preferred).
  • Knowledge ofconcurrency patternsand multi-threaded programming in C#.
  • Familiarity withopen-source developmentpractices.
  • Experience withPython, JavaScript, jQuery, or Knockout.jsis a plus.

The national average salary range for this role is$100K-120K in base pay, exclusive of any bonuses and benefits. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salary offered will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, performance, and internal pay alignment. We do not anticipate that candidates hired will begin at the top of the range however, from time to time, it may occur on a case-by-case basis.
