Job summary

HCLTech seeks an Electromechanical Assembly Technician to join the Engineering Technical Services team. You will assemble, test, and troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems, using hand and power tools, fixtures, and wiring with tight tolerances.

Responsibilities include building racks, cabinets and frames, wiring, safety interlocks, and test fixture development. Strong documentation and communication are essential for updates and training colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Experience in assembly and testing of electromechanical systems.
  • Ability to read CAD drawings for assembly.
  • Ability to handle 50 lbs and work in fast-paced environments.
  • Follow safety and information security policies.

Responsibilities

  • Keep the electromechanical system fleet ready after inventory receipt.
  • Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and orders to determine assembly methods.
  • Assemble components using hand tools, power tools and fixtures.
  • Install electronic parts and hardware in housings with soldering.
  • Build rack assemblies, cabinets, overhead frames, conduits, and cable routing.
  • Design/build safety interlock systems and testing boundaries.
  • Test electromechanical assemblies with oscilloscopes and test instruments.
  • Design and build test fixtures to support testing.
  • Provide status updates to leads and engineering teams.
  • Attend training sessions and help train new staff.
  • Work regular hours 9:00–17:30 or shifts 7:00–15:30 / 14:00–22:00.

Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Electromechanical Assembly Technician to join our Engineering Technical Services team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in the assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of complex electro-mechanical systems. This role is critical in ensuring the quality and functionality of our cutting-edge products, involving hands-on work with tight tolerance components, electrical wiring, and advanced testing equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Keep the electromechanical system fleet ready after receiving the inventory from the supplier.
  • Understand blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical orders to determine methods and sequences of assembly
  • Align, fit, and assemble component parts, using hand tools, power tools, fixtures and appropriate shop tools
  • Install electronic parts and hardware in housings or assemblies, using soldering equipment and hand tools
  • Build Rack assemblies, Cabinets, Overhead Support Frames, Mounting Structures, Electrical conduits, Cable routing both Power, low voltage signals, communication cables, sensor mounting, Camera Installations, Lighting systems.
  • Design / Build / install safety interlock systems, labels, work boundaries for Testing.
  • Perform testing of electromechanical assemblies, using test instruments such as oscilloscopes, electronic voltmeters, and bridges
  • Design and build test fixtures to support system testing
  • Strictly follow safety and information security policies
  • Provide status updates to assigned leads, program stakeholders and engineering teams about the progress and any challenges being faced
  • Attend training sessions on new tools and techniques and help train new staff
  • Report to work on assigned time to the assigned lead and be open to support weekend work as and when required
  • Flexible to support regular work hours (9AM to 5.30PM), morning shift starting at 7 AM or evening shift starting at 2 PM.
Skill Requirements
  • Experience in assembly and testing of electromechanical systems
  • Experience in Mechanical assembly in Building Test infrastructure with larger Rack assemblies, mounting systems with lifting equipments and Cabinet assembly
  • Experience in Electrical assembly for Power distribution (up to 110VAC), Battery installation, Camera installation, sensor installation and cabling for data acquisition to central systems.
  • Configuring the instrumentation for the setup and programming knowledge (Software loading in the machines)
  • Assembling Electro Mechanical machines based on assembly drawing which includes, PCBA, sensors, actuators, Motors and wiring harness. The size of the machines will be smaller and hence experience in using hand tools and power tools are necessary
  • Ability to read CAD drawing for assembly
  • Ability to recreate / reverse engineer setup based on current installations with less documentation
  • Ability to handle fast paced and high pressure work environments
  • Ability to navigate a large facility and lift up to 50 lbs robot frames
  • Excellent problem solving, documentation and communication skills
