South Mississippi Regional Center is a program of the Mississippi Department of Mental Health providing care and support for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. POSITION: Support Care Professional Team Lead (RECREATION)

WORK LOCATION: Gautier Community Homes, 218 Graveline Rd., Gautier, MS 39553

SALARY: $31,744.97 Annually

SCHEDULE/SHIFTS: Tuesday – Saturday or Sunday - Thursday 12:00PM - 8:30PM. Variations in the schedule as necessary to include nights and weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists in planning and directing a program of recreational activities. Selects necessary materials, equipment, scenery, or costumes for planned recreational activities. Assists in the in-service training of new workers and staff development as necessary. Also, assists in carrying out formal training programs and entering the data into the PPS system. Observes and reports on the results and progress of recreational activities to include participation and reactions. Assists in supervising volunteer workers, attendants, or helpers. Coaches, instructs and supervises games, teams, and athletic events. Assists in organizing and supervising indoor games, dances and parties. Works with special groups or individuals. Requisitions and cares for recreational equipment. Related or other duties as required or assigned. Works on floor with direct care staff.

A standard high school Diploma, or transcript, from an accredited four-year high school, or a state issued G.E.D. equivalent transcript.

Preferred Qualifications

Typically requires High School Diploma or high school equivalency, and 3-5+ years of experience. May require a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) designation. Hiring agency prefers: Requires graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent (GED/Transcripts); AND 3-5+ years of direct care experience with a minimum of 1 year of Recreation experience.
